Things are about to get very interesting for the Utah Jazz.
Not that they were dull before — it’s just that a lot of folks around the NBA have been wondering if the Jazz have enough depth to be a playoff team. Now, the Jazz get to show them.
It’s not a case the Jazz exactly wanted to make, mind you. But when you lose Alec Burks (broken ankle) for an extended period, Rudy Gobert (knee) for an inordinate amount of time and Derrick Favors (back spasms) for even a minute — well, times suddenly get tougher. You suddenly get to find out if you’re actually playoff material.
To be fair, a lot of teams are going through the same thing as the Jazz. Everyone suffers injuries to key parts during the course of an 82-game season. If they haven’t yet, they will.
