Blazers, Celtics, Lakers expected to chase Kanter

Free agent center Enes Kanter is reportedly leaving the Trail Blazers for the Celtics in free agency.

Veteran big man Enes Kanter will attract interest from several big names when NBA free agency tips off Sunday night, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The Portland Trail Blazers, the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers are expected to pursue the unrestricted free agent, according to Haynes.

Kanter, 27, averaged 13.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 67 games (31 starts) last season with the New York Knicks and Trail Blazers, shooting 54.9 percent from the field and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line.

He played a big part in the playoff run by Portland, which signed Kanter six days after New York waived him at the trade deadline. With center Jusuf Nurkic sidelined for the postseason because of a gruesome leg injury, averaging 11.4 points, 9.7 boards and 1.2 assists in 28.8 minutes in 16 playoff games (14 starts), despite suffering a separated left shoulder.

Kanter, an eight-year veteran, was the third overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz.
