Bucks hire Budenholzer as new coach

The Milwaukee Bucks have hired Mike Budenholzer as their new coach, according to ESPN.

AmicoHoops was first to report that Budenholzer was the team’s top candidate.

Budenholzer was the Bucks’ main target since the franchise began its coaching search, sources said. Milwaukee’s brass met with 10 candidates, including San Antonio Spurs assistants Ettore Messina and Becky Hammon, former Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford, former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt and former New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams.

Budenholzer, however, was always the frontrunner, sources said.

The Hawks and Budenholzer mutually agreed to part ways April 25. He compiled a 213-197 record in five seasons with the Hawks.
