Cavaliers finalize assistant coaching staff under Beilein

New Cavaliers coach John Beilein begins his first season in the NBA after 12 years at Michigan.

The Cavaliers completed their coaching staff Wednesday by promoting Dan Geriot to assistant under John Beilein.

Along with that, the Cavs promoted Steve Frankoskito to player development coach, Michael Hartman to director of analytics/player development and Sam Jones to player development coordinator.

Each has served the Cavs or Canton Charge in various capacities.

The Cavs also hired added J.J. Outlaw as an assistant coach/player development, Chris Darnell as player development/video assistant and Jay Shunnar as special assistant to the head coach.

Beilein, 66, was hired in May after 12 years at Michigan and nearly three decades in college basketball overall. This will be his first season coaching in the NBA in any capacity.

J.B. Bickerstaff will serve as associate head coach, with Antonio Lang and Lindsay Gottlieb as the other top assistants.

Mike Gerrity returns as director of player development/assistant coach, Dan Vincent as head video coordinator/player development and Andrew Olson as shooting coach.

Former associate head coach Mike Longabardi and assistants James Posey and Terry Nooner will not be back.
