The Cleveland Cavaliers were active this weekend in regards to their team that will compete in the Las Vegas Summer League next month, signing former 5-star Kansas recruit Billy Preston and former Purdue 3-and-D shooting guard Dakota Mathias.
Cleveland has also added Bonzie Colson, a 6-6 combo forward out of Notre Dame, who led the Atlantic Coast Conference in rebounding last season and also double-doubles, posting 18.
Colson, who possesses a 7-foot wingspan, is known for doing a lot of his scoring in the post, utilizing a versatile toolbox of offensive weapons that includes jump hooks and fadeaway, while also having the ability to beat defenders off the dribble.
Armed with a strong upper body, Colson averaged 19.7 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 2.2 blocked shots for the Fighting Irish in his senior season, shooting 50.3 percent from the floor. For his career, Colson was a 35.0 percent shooter from beyond the 3-point line for Notre Dame.
