Cleveland Cavaliers rookie point guard Collin Sexton has been named to the first-team All-Summer League squad.
In seven games, Sexton averaged 19.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 43 percent from the field.
Sexton showed why the Cavs’ front office was high on him and selected him with the eighth overall pick in the NBA draft. The former Alabama guard got to the rim at will, finished in heavy traffic and attacked the basket in transition, something the Cavs will need from him on a nightly basis during the regular season to generate easy offense.
As of now, Sexton’s perimeter shooting is considered the biggest skill he needs work on. Sexton’s most valuable skill is his quickness, driving ability and creating separation off the dribble.
Sexton also showed he’s going to be a tenacious defender for the Cavs at the point guard spot.
