The Cavaliers have agreed to a two-way contract with free-agent small forward Deng Adel, an Amico Hoops source confirmed.
In order to make room for Adel, the Cavs will need to waive forward Jarron Blossomgame or wing Jalen Jones, as the Cavs do not have a two-way slot available. They are allowed two.
Adel has been an unsigned rookie free agent who had been playing for the Toronto Raptors’ G-League affiliate. He went undrafted out of Louisville.
Adel is 6-foot-7 and a native of Sudan. He spent three seasons at Louisville, declaring for the draft as a junior, when he averaged 14.9 points.
He spent the summer with the Houston Rockets’ entry in Las Vegas, then signed with the Raptors for training camp. He is averaging about 12.0 points in the G-League.
The Cavs intend to keep bringing in young players such as Adel, Jones and Cameron Payne for the rest of the season.
Shams Charania of Stadium first reported the Adel news.
