Celtics’ Irving out vs. Bulls with quad contusion

Kyrie Irving could become a free-agent in 2019.

Boston Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving will miss Monday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls due to a left quad contusion.

Irving took a knee to his quad Sunday vs. the Detroit Pistons.

On the season, Irving is averaging 23.7 points and 4.8 assists while shooting 49.2 percent from the field and 39.7 percent from three.

The Celtics enter Monday with the second best record in the NBA at 23-5, trailing only the Houston Rockets (20-4).
