The Celtics acquired Purvis from the Oklahoma City Thunder in a deal that sent Abdel Nader to OKC on July 23. The move puts Boston’s roster at 15 and leaves the Celtics $2.5 million above the luxury-tax line
Purvis, a 6-foot-4, 2-5-pound shooting guard, averaged 6.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 18.1 minutes in 16 games (2 starts) for the Orlando Magic last season, shooting 32.7 percent from the field, 25.0 percent from three and 86.7 percent from the free-throw line.
The 24-year-old played collegiately at Connecticut.
