Charge comeback bid falls short on road

Joe Harris scored 15 points in the Charge's loss Tuesday.

It was a valiant effort against the defending champs on the road, but it wasn’t meant to be for the Canton Charge.

Despite Nick Minnerath scoring a season-high 21 points and Jose Gutierrez adding 19 on 7-of-11 shooting, the Charge dropped a 108-101 decision to the Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday.

Cavaliers assignee Joe Harris tacked on 15 points for the Charge (3-8). Also, rookie guard Quinn Cook had 11 points and six assists, with Cavs second-round draft pick Sir’Dominic Pointer compiling six points, nine rebounds, four blocks and two steals off the bench.

Former NBA swingman Elliot Williams scored 29 to pace the Warriors (8-4), who built a 16-point lead in the third quarter before Canton came charging back.

The Charge complete their two-game swing on the West Coast at the Bakersfield Jam on Thursday. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. EST.
