Charge’s Cook, others audition for Pelicans

Pelicans guard Quinn Cook is averaging 26.0 points in the D-League.

Canton Charge guard Quinn Cook is among those auditioning for the New Orleans Pelicans, according to multiple sources.

ESPN reported free agents Mario Chalmers, Hollis Thompson and Reggie Williams, and Iowa Energy guard Wayne Selden, are also working out in front of the team.

The workouts were held Tuesday at the Pelicans’ practice facility, sources said.

The Pelicans are looking for backcourt help after the trade for big man DeMarcus Cousins earlier this week.

Cook is the reigning D-League Rookie of the Year and was selected the league’s All-Star Game MVP over the weekend. He is averaging 26.0 points per game for the Charge.

Before re-joining Canton, Cook spent time with the Pelicans in training camp.
