Dwyane Wade has been a huge contributor off the bench during the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 11-game winning streak, and LeBron James says that puts Wade in rare air.
In fact, James feels Wade is the top reserve in the league at the moment. At the end of the season, of course, such a player receives special recognition as the Sixth Man of the Year.
“He’s probably the number one candidate,” James told reporters Saturday. “Not even being biased, that’s one of my best friends. Just looking at the teams.”
Wade, 35, has arguably been the team’s best defender and very clearly a strong presence in the locker room. The Cavs (16-7) have won 11 straight and Wade is averaging 13.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the last 10. He is also shooting 52 percent from the floor in that stretch.
