Cleveland State lands notable Arkansas guard

Cleveland State has signed point guard Tyree Appleby to a National Letter of Intent, Vikings coach Dennis Felton said Wednesday.

Appleby is 6-foot-1 and was ranked among the top 10 players in Arkansas as a senior at Jacksonville High.

“He is a very talented, dynamic and confident player who is equally comfortable scoring and making plays for others,” Felton said. “We love dynamic guards and Tyree is gifted with unique quickness and explosiveness to make plays. With the help and leadership of our returning players, Tyree has the opportunity to be a terrific contributor.”

Appley averaged 25.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists as a senior.

His older brother, Raheem Appleby, was a first team All-Conference USA member at Louisiana Tech and scored more than 1,700 career points.
