Andre Yates scored 14 points and Cleveland State rallied to break a five-game losing streak, beating host Loyola Chicago by a 60-54 count Thursday.
The win was Vikings coach Gary Waters’ 350th in college basketball. He has also been the head coach at Kent State and Rutgers. Waters is now 179-134 at CSU.
Daniel Levitt added 12 points on four 3-pointers for the Vikings (3-7). Overall, the Vikings shot 7-of-17 on threes.
Cleveland State’s Jibiri Blount scored 11 points, including a pair of key free throws near the end, and Demonte Flannigan had 10.
The Ramblers (5-5) suffered their first home loss of the season after building an 18-11 lead. There were seven lead changes in the second half. Earl Peterson led Loyola with 16 points.
The Vikings host Belmont on Saturday at 1 p.m.
