San Antonio was hoping coach Gregg Popovich could convince Leonard to change his mind, but Leonard told Popovich during their meeting in San Diego that he wants out as soon as possible.
Tony Parker‘s comments about his quad injury being “a hundred times worse” than the ailment Leonard dealt with this season was the “last straw” for Leonard, according to ESPN reporter Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Clippers are willing to create a trade package built around forward Tobias Harris and rookies Shai Gilgeous–Alexander and Jerome Robinson to acquire Leonard, a league source told Amico Hoops.
The Spurs are expected to decline, as they are seeking a grand offer for Leonard, a Finals MVP and two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
