The Los Angeles Clippers are seeking a first-round pick from the Phoenix Suns in exchange for point guard Patrick Beverley, according to Shams Charania of Stadium.
The Suns have been looking for a starting point guard since trading Brandon Knight to the Houston Rockets in a trade for forward Ryan Anderson in August.
According to Charania, the Suns so far are only willing to offer second-round picks in trade discussions. But Beverley is a “culture-setter,” who the Suns believe could play a strong complementary role next to standout shooting guard Devin Booker, Charania reported.
The 30-year-old Beverley underwent microfracture and meniscus knee surgery in November after only 11 games and averaging 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists as the starter for the Clippers. He was fully cleared in June.
