CLEVELAND – – Rob Edwards is no ordinary Horizon League freshman and the Cleveland State guard proved it yet again Tuesday night.
Edwards scored a career-high 21 points and tied the CSU single-game record with 5-of-5 shooting on 3-pointers, as the Vikings blew by visiting Cedarville 77-37.
Edwards finished 8-of-10 overall and along with his hot shooting, pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.
Kenny Carpenter added 14 points and a career-high nine assists off the bench for the Vikings (5-8), while Daniel Levitt scored 11 points and grabbed a career-best seven rebounds.
Jibri Blount finished with 10 points, five rebounds and three steals to help the CSU bench outscore Cedarville’s bench 37-9.
“We were able to use a lot of bodies today and run fresh legs at them,” Vikings coach Gary Waters said. “We didn’t start the game with a lot of energy and I thought the guys off the bench came in and brought some life to us.”
Easton Bazzolli led the Division II Yellow Jackets with 11 points.
