Embiid has surgery, could return in 2 weeks

Julius Erving says Joel Embiid has shown no weakness from a skill standpoint.

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid underwent surgery Saturday to repair an orbital bone fracture around his left eye and could return in as soon as two weeks, according to a report from ESPN.

Embiid suffered the injury after butting heads with teammate Markelle Fultz. Embiid, an All-Star, also sustained a concussion.

The Sixers (45-30), who have clinched a playoff spot and stand fourth in the Eastern Conference, only a half-game behind third-place Cleveland (46-30), could have Embiid back in the first-round as long as his recovery process goes well.

Embiid is averaging 22.9 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.8 blocks on the season.
