Former Ohio State and NBA center Byron Mullens is nearing a contract agreement with Hoops Club of Lebanon, Amico Hoops has learned.
Mullens played 29 games in the D-League and nine in Turkey last season. He has spent time in the NBA with Philadelphia, Oklahoma City, Charlotte and the Los Angeles Clippers.
Mullens, 27, was drafted No. 24 overall by Dallas in 2009. He was named Big Ten Sixth Man of the Year while with the Buckeyes. The 7-footer has also played professionally in China and Greece.
He averaged 7.4 points and 4.2 rebounds in six NBA seasons. Mullens is a product of Canal Winchester (Ohio) High School, and played in the McDonald’s All-American game in 2008.
