Former first-round pick Richardson signs with G League’s Charge

Shooting guard Malachi Richardson started with the Kings and spent time with the Raptors.

Former first-round draft pick Malachi Richardson has signed with the Canton Charge of the G League, the team announced.

Richardson is 6-foot-6 and has appeared in 70 NBA games overall with the Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors, including 22 with the Raptors this season. He was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers at the February deadline and immediately waived.

Richardson was drafted out of Syracuse by the Charlotte Hornets with the No. 22 overall pick in 2016. His rights were traded to the Kings a few weeks later.

He averaged 20.8 points in 12 games with the Raptors’ G-League affiliate earlier this season.

The Charge are the G-League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
