Former Heat guard Williams headed overseas

Free-agent guard Matt Williams appeared in three games for the Heat last season as a rookie.

Free-agent shooting guard Matt Williams has signed with KTP-Basket of Finland, the team announced in a news release.

Williams is 6-foot-5 and went undrafted out of Central Florida in 2017. He signed a two-way contract with the Heat before the season and was waived on New Year’s Eve. The Heat promptly signed guard Derrick Jones Jr.

Williams appeared in three NBA games, playing a total of 11 minutes. Most of his rookie year was spent with the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G-League, where he averaged 10.2 points in 43 games.
