Former NBA ref Ronnie Nunn: Officials had bad day in Game 1

Former NBA ref Ronnie Nunn, shown with Patrick Ewing during the 1999 playoffs, said the officials got several calls wrong in Game 1 of the Finals.

Ronnie Nunn was an NBA referee for 19 seasons, serving as head of officials for five years and then as director of development for three years.

He joined Nick Hauselman (“Coach Nick”) of bballbreakdown.com to review several of the controversial officiating calls from Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors.

His conclusion — the three referees, Tony Brothers, Kenny Mauer and Ed Malloy — most especially Brothers, had a bad day.

  1. If that was what we call a bad day, Tony Brothers will have a lot more good days once he retires.
