Free agent shooting guard Jared Cunningham is working out for the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, according to Marc Spears of ESPN.
Cunningham, 28, is a native of Oakland, Calif. He last played in the NBA during the 2015-16 season, when he appeared in four games with the Milwaukee Bucks. He played in a career-high 40 games with the Cleveland Cavaliers the season before that.
Per Spears, the Warriors’ will be working out several veterans along with Cunningham.
Cunningham is 6-foot-4 and has also spent time with the Los Angeles Clippers, Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks. He has spent the previous three seasons overseas.
The Warriors’ backcourt depth chart includes Steph Curry, D’Angelo Russell, Alec Burks and rookie Jordan Poole. All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson is expected to miss most of the regular season with a knee injury — perhaps opening the door for a journeyman such a Cunningham.
