Free agent guard Walton Jr. signs with Clippers

Clippers signee Derrick Walton Jr. appeared in 16 games for the Heat in 2017-18.

Free agent point guard Derrick Walton Jr. has agreed to a contract with the Los Angeles Clippers, he confirmed to JD Shaw of HoopsRumors.

The deal is reportedly an Exhibit 10 training camp contract that could potentially turn into a two-way contract.

Walton, 24, went undrafted out of Michigan in 2017. He has spent time with the Miami Heat and their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, as well as overseas.

He appeared in 16 games with the Heat in 2017-18.

“With only 13 players on guaranteed contracts, the Clippers still project to have a couple openings on their regular season roster,” Luke Adams of HoopsRumors wrote. “It’s not clear if Walton will get the opportunity to compete for one of those spots.”
