Free agent swingman Muhammad signs with Chinese club

Former Timberwolves guard/forward Shabazz Muhammad is headed back to China.

Free agent swingman Shabazz Muhammad has agreed to a contract with the Shenzhen Aviators, as relayed by Dario Skerletic of Sportando.

Muhammad, 26, was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the No. 14 overall pick in 2013. He did not play in the NBA last season, instead playing for the Shanxi Brave Dragons, also of China.

He played for both the Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks in 2017-18, averaging 6.2 points in 43 games combined.

Muhammad is among a growing list of NBA free agents who are taking their game to China — joining the likes of Lance StephensonIan ClarkJerian Grant, Jerryd Bayless, Ekpe Udoh and Donatas Motiejunas.
