Garland highlights Cavaliers’ summer roster; Beilein to coach

The Cavaliers selected point guard Darius Garland with the No. 5 overall draft pick.

First-round draft picks Darius Garland, Dylan Windler and Kevin Porter Jr. highlight the Cavaliers’ summer roster, released by the team Thursday.

The Cavs begin play Monday in the three-day Salt Lake City league, and then will head to Las Vegas for that summer run starting July 5.

Along with Garland and the other first-rounders, the team features Malik Newman, JaCorey Williams and Muhammad-Ali Adbur-Rahkman. All three spent time with the G League’s Canton Charge this past season.

New Cavs coach John Beilein will coach the summer team for its three games in Salt Lake.

The complete roster is below.

  1. Didn’t I read earlier from one of the Amico writers that Garland wasn’t going to play summer ball? I guess a person can change his mind.

I think was the team that said right after the draft he MIGHT not play. He wants to and apparently, they’re letting him. But thanks for pointing that out nonetheless! 🙂 – Sam

      • Thanks for answering Sam and also for today’s article. Clears it up for me anyways. looking forward to summer ball and the regular season as we try once again to build up to a championship team somewhere down the road.
