The Memphis Grizzlies will sign free-agent forward/center Jarnell Stokes to a two-way contract, according to a report from Shams Charania of Stadium.
Stokes is 6-foot-9 and has been playing for the Sioux Falls Skyforce of the G-League. He spent his rookie year (2014-15) with the Grizzlies.
In a related move, the Grizzlies announced Sunday they have waived two-way swingman D.J. Stephens.
According to a report from Hoops Rumors, Stokes worked out for the Grizzlies in early November before they signed veteran center Joakim Noah.
Stokes was originally a second-round draft pick of the Utah Jazz (No. 35 overall) in 2014. The Jazz traded him to the Grizzlies on draft night.
Along with the Grizzlies, he has spent time with the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets, and played in China last season.
Stokes, 24, has compiled NBA career averages of 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds in 28 total games.
Stephens, 28, signed a two-way deal the Grizzlies before the season. He appeared in just one game.
