Hammon, Blatt up next for Bucks coaching interviews

Becky Hammon has been promoted to Gregg Popovich's top assistant with the Spurs.

As expected, San Antonio Spurs assistant Becky Hammon and former Cleveland Cavaliers coach David Blatt will interview for the Milwaukee Bucks coaching job this weekend, according to ESPN.

Hammon will become the first woman to interview for a head coaching position in NBA history.

The Bucks have already interviewed former New Orleans Pelicans coach Monty Williams, ESPN reported, as well as Spurs assistant Ettore Messina — with former Charlotte Hornets coach Steve Clifford and former Atlanta Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer also in the mix.

A league source told Amico Hoops earlier in the week that Budenholzer entered the search as the Bucks’ odds-favorite.

The Hornets, Phoenix Suns and New York Knicks have all filled their coaching vacancies. Along with the Bucks, the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Atlanta Hawks all have openings, with potentially more on the way.
