Free-agent big man Udonis Haslem has decided to return to the Miami Heat on a one-year, $2.4 million contract, according to a report from the Associated Press.
Haslem, 38, is returning to the team for a 16th season.
He has not been a productive player on the court for several seasons, but is viewed as an important practice player and locker-room presence.
“When players come in and we talk to them about what it means to be a Miami Heat player, we point them at Udonis Haslem,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said earlier this offseason.
Haslem is from Miami and has averaged 7.7 points and 6.8 rebounds for his career. He appeared in just 14 games last season, averaging less than a point.
