The Miami Heat are looking to make a deal and have “heavy interest” in Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, according to a report from Greg Sylvander of HeatBeatMiami.com.
Beal has reportedly been available — or the Wizards have at least been listening to offers — for the majority of the season. But as Sylvander noted in his thorough roundup of Heat buzz, Beal is averaging 24.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists and won’t come cheaply.
“Washington’s asking price thus far appears astronomically high and likely too steep, but Miami considers Beal a frontline star with upside,” Sylvander reported.
Beal is indeed reportedly drawing interest from teams other than the Heat. The list reportedly includes the New Orleans Pelicans, who are trying to pair a top-notch wing player next to Anthony Davis.
But the Heat are clearly looking to make a major upgrade between now and the Feb. 7 trade deadline.
According to Sylvander, center Hassan Whiteside, forward James Johnson and guards Dion Waiters and Tyler Johnson are available.
“Whiteside and Waiters are the primary available options,” Sylvander wrote.
