How’d They Fare? National Mock Drafts vs. AmicoHoops

This year on AmicoHoops, we decided to round up various mock drafts and compare their first round picks.

So, how many players actually ended up where the “experts” thought they would?

What does this prove? Nothing really, other than the fact that picking a mock draft is basically the equivalent to throwing darts with a blindfold on. In either scenario, make sure women and children are not in the room when you waste your time doing this.

It’s tough to predict which teams would make trades, but even with the trades, there were some picks who ended up lining up with where the mock draft analysts expected.

The first six picks went as most thought they would go and even pick number seven fell in line with projections, but the trade threw everything off.

Our alternate way of assessing which mock drafts turned out best was to see if the player went where the analyst expected, as far as the number pick – regardless of which team ended up with that pick.

In our alternate grading scale below, we’ll go strictly by whether or not the player went at the number each mock draft expected.

Example: Lauri Markkanen was drafted seventh, but traded. Those types of picks will count as correct below:
