Jerry Colangelo, who serves as a special advisor to the Philadelphia 76ers, will not have his contract renewed by the team and says his tenure will be “over at the end of the year.”
Colangelo is under contract through the end of this calendar year and the Sixers will honor the contract until then.
Colangelo is the father of former Sixers president of basketball operations Bryan Colangelo, who mutually parted ways with the organization after his wife admitted to running multiple burner Twitter accounts that revealed non-public information about the team.
“I haven’t made any public comments about what transpired,” Colangelo told Tim Bontemps of the Washington Post. “I don’t think it would be appropriate. It’s a very difficult summer for him and his family.”
The Sixers are still looking for a new general manager. Coach Brett Brown is currently overseeing basketball operations on an interim basis.
