Knicks to interview Woodson for coaching vacancy

A day after it was reported that the New York Knicks would interview Mark Jackson and Jeff Van Gundy for their coaching vacancy, two guys with close ties to the franchise, another familiar name has appeared on their list.

According to a report from ESPN, the Knicks have received permission to talk with Los Angeles Clippers assistant Mike Woodson, who coached New York from 2011-14.

Woodson led the Knicks to their last playoff appearance in 2013, when the club went 54-28. He compiled a record of 109-79 in three seasons.

According to ESPN, David Fizdale, Jackson and Jerry Stackhouse are the top candidates for the Knicks’ head coaching job. All three will interview with New York this week.
