The New York Knicks are expecting to meet with Kawhi Leonard and Kevin Durant at the start of free agency Sunday, according to a report from Frank Isola of The Athletic.
Both players are unrestricted free agents after guiding their teams to the NBA Finals. Leonard emerged as a champion with the Toronto Raptors, and Durant emerged as a star who will miss all of next season after rupturing his Achilles.
Per Isola, the Knicks will head to Los Angeles following the meetings with Leonard and Durant to recruit other free-agent targets.
Durant has been linked not only to the Knicks, but the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets as well. There is talk that Boston Celtics star Kyrie Irving, another unrestricted free agent, is looking to team up with Durant with the Nets.
Meanwhile, Leonard is considered the longest of shots for the Knicks after winning the title. Several reports indicated Leonard is most likely to return to the Raptors on a short-term contract. He has also been linked to the Clippers.
