Of course, LeBron James stole the show, as he almost always does, by matching Michael Jordan’s NBA record by reaching double figures for the 866th consecutive time Wednesday night in Charlotte.
However, James made it a point to stick around after the Cleveland Cavaliers’ 118-105 victory over the Hornets at Spectrum Center.
He did so because he wanted to congratulate Kemba Walker, who became the all-time leading scorer in Charlotte franchise history with a bucket with 18 seconds to play.

It gave him 9,841 points, two more than Dell Curry, father of Steph, compiled during his time with the Hornets.
After the game, James stuck around on the court to congratulate Walker on reaching the milestone. As tribute played on the video board, and the packed crowd in the Spectrum Center lingered for the moment. James did, too. By the way, in 26 games played against LeBron-led teams, Walker is now, incredibly, 0-26.
"I'm not supposed to be here. A lot of people from where I'm from don't make it… this is a huge accomplishment." – @KembaWalker after he passed Dell Curry to become the all-time leading scorer in @hornets franchise history #BuzzCity pic.twitter.com/7ROAurY8dF

“I just went over and told him how incredible that was, even with the season they’re having,” James said. “He has a lot of respect around the league.
“Listen, if you can be the all-time leading scorer in any franchise, that’s incredible. That’s an incredible feat.”
After Walker was presented the basketball used to set the franchise mark, he cried. He was then embraced by James.
“He just told me congratulations, and it’s a huge accomplishment. He’s the best player in the world; coming from him, that means a lot!”
After James had shared his congratulations with Walker, he eventually left the floor. James said Walker deserved to be celebrated and appreciated.
But the crowd offered its verdict, even on Walker’s record-setting night.
As LeBron made his way back to the locker room, the chant of “M-V-P!” echoed down the tunnel.
