You can probably count out the Orlando Magic as possible suitors for Russell Westbrook.
That’s according to Josh Robbins of The Athletic, who reported the Magic are “very, very unlikely” to have an interest in the Oklahoma City Thunder star.
This despite the fact the Thunder are supposedly making Westbrook available.
This despite the fact the Magic are a playoff team in need of a point guard.
And this despite the fact a Westbrook-Aaron Gordon pairing would make the Magic an immediate threat in the Eastern Conference. Or at least more of a threat than many consider the Magic today.
Of course, there is another Florida team that could make a play for Westbrook. That would be none other than the Miami Heat, who traded for star wing Jimmy Butler and are still looking for one more upgrade.
Westbrook, a triple-double waiting to happen, would be it.
Apparently, the Heat have already made overtures about Westbrook. Apparently, the Thunder are willing to listen after Paul George basically forced his way to the Los Angeles Clippers. OKC, it seems, is in complete retooling mode.
Trading Westbrook would mean an all-out rebuild, and both the Thunder and Westbrook are said to be very open to the possibility.
Just don’t expect the Magic to come calling.
Others who have been linked to Westbrook: The New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers.
