The fifth overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft isn’t just another European that’s bound to be a bust. He’s a basketball player that can flat out play.
Mario Hezonja made the Amway Arena crowd “ooh” and “ah” when he threw down this jam over two Thunder defenders during play in the Orlando summer league this week.
The 6-foot-8, 201-pound Croatian swingman scored 14 points in his second summer game for the Magic Blue team. And in his debut, he already made an impact by doing this.
Hezonja is one of the more interesting prospects of the draft, as he not only has great potential on the court, but also a fearless attitude off of it. In an interview with Sportando last summer, he had this to say about his opponents:
I never had respect to anybody on a basketball court. I heard about: “If they smell blood, you get eaten.” I’m not like that. I don’t care. Whether it’s a veteran or a young player standing in front of me I always have the same goal. I want to run over everybody.
He’s also got a sense of humor and, apparently, American pop culture. Here’s one of Hezonja’s posts on Instagram referencing lyrics from Drake.

One thing is for sure with all of this: Hezonja isn’t your typical soft Euro that basketball fans have seen fail in the past. He’s hungry, and from the looks of it, he’s ready to play in the NBA.
