Dallas Mavericks big man Nerlens Noel underwent surgery today in Cleveland to repair a torn ligament in his left thumb, the team announced.
Noel told reporters earlier in the week that he thinks he suffered the injury in the fourth or fifth game of the season but continued to play through it. He will most likely miss between four-to-six weeks, although the Mavericks say there is no timetable for a return.

Noel has appeared in 18 games this year and is averaging 4.0 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 52.8 percent from the field in roughly 12 minutes per contest.
Both Mark Cuban and Rick Carlisle have commended Noel for how he’s handled his reduced playing time.
