Mavs’ Smith Jr. out at least two games

Dennis Smith Jr. has a strained hip.

Dallas Mavericks rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. will miss at least the next two games with a strained hip, according to Eddie Sefko of MavsBlog.com

Smith suffered the injury against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday and the soreness worsened on Thursday. He was walking with a noticeable limp on Friday at the Mavs’ morning shootaround.

Smith is averaging 14.4 points and 4.0 assists on the season while shooting 39.5 percent from the field and 30.6 percent from three.

The Mavs face the Bucks tonight and the Timberwolves on Sunday. Smith will be re-evaluated next week.
