Melo picks up option with Oklahoma City

Carmelo Anthony picked up his player option for next season with Oklahoma City.

As expected, Carmelo Anthony has made it official. He’s opting in to the $27.9 million player option for the 2018-19 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to a report.

Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports said Anthony, acquired from the New York Knicks last summer, picked up the option by not exercising his early termination option.

Anthony was sent to Oklahoma City by New York last summer in exchange for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a second-round draft pick.

He is coming off a disappointing season in which  he averaged career lows in both points (16.2 per game) and minutes (32.1).
