Toronto Raptors forward Serge Ibaka and Cleveland Cavaliers forward Marquese Chriss were each suspended for their role in a fight during the third quarter of their game Monday at Quicken Loans Arena.
The league announced Ibaka was suspended for three games, with Chriss suspended for one.
The fight took place with one second left in the third quarter and the Raptors attempting a full-court pass.
Ibaka fell after he and Chriss battled for position as the pass sailed out of bounds.
Ibaka hopped to his feet, shoved Chriss from behind and grabbed his neck before throwing a punch. Chriss responded by connecting with punch before the two were seperated by teammates. Both players were ejected.
“I saw it out of the corner of my eye,” Cavs forward Love told reporters. “It happened so fast. Everybody almost wants to run out there and check what’s going on. It was broken up quick. That’s usually how it goes.”
Neither Ibaka nor Chriss was available for comment after the game. A Raptors spokesman said Ibaka reacted to something Chriss said after Ibaka was was knocked down.
