Three’s no crowd: Here come the Sixers

Sixers center Joel Embiid is the early favorite for NBA Rookie of the Year.

For the third time, yes, the Philadelphia 76ers won. And for the first time in three years, they’ve won three straight.

Sounds like the old process may be coming together, huh?

Speaking of “The Process,” that is Joel Embiid’s fun-loving nickname for himself. The Sixers center is the clear frontrunner for Rookie of the Year after missing his first two seasons with bum feet.

But he led the Sixers in that third straight win (24 points over Charlotte Friday), and is the largest reason they’ve been able to win five of six.

Interestingly, while Embiid impressed and continued to make a case for the All-Star Game, last season’s leading scorer, big man Jahlil Okafor, received another DNP-CD.

So Sixers coach Brett Brown is figuring out things, and whatever he’s doing has sure worked lately. If that means Okafor is out of the rotation, and replaces Nerlens Noel as the team’s top tradeable asset, then it’s clear Brown will make the move.

Oh, and let’s not forget, No. 1 overall draft pick Ben Simmons is due o make his debut within the next month or so.

The Sixers? Coming together? No longer a laughingstock?

We all knew it was bound to happen. It is happening, right now, and for fans of this once-proud franchise, it is a basketball sight to behold.
