Kyrie Irving scored 19 points, including a huge 3-pointer and layup in the final minutes, as the Boston Celtics continued their winning ways with a 116-111 win over the visiting Phoenix Suns on Saturday.
Both buckets helped the Celtics blow the game after building a big fourth-quarter lead — as well as fend off 38 points from Suns shooting star Devin Booker.
“Kyrie’s ability to make those shots with very little space is pretty impressive,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters. “We put ourselves in a bad spot after that fourth-quarter run.”
The Celtics (20-4) also received 17 points apiece from Jaylen Brown and Marcus Morris, 15 from Jayson Tatum and 14 from Al Horford, who also passed for a career-high 11 assists.
T.J. Warren added 19 points for the Suns (8-16), and Tyson Chandler had 14 points and 18 rebounds.
