Portland Trail Blazers forward Al-Farouq Aminu will miss two-to-three weeks with a sprained ankle, the team announced Thursday.
Aminu suffered the injury in Wednesday’s overtime loss to the Utah Jazz. He is averaging 9.4 points, 8.1 rebounds and a 1.3 blocked shots through eight games.
“It’s tough,” Blazers point guard Damian Lillard told reporters prior to Thursday’s win over the Los Angeles Lakers.
“Chief (Aminu) is a huge part of our team. He does a lot of things that might not get mentioned all the time, might not show up on the stat sheet, but he’s as big a part of our team as just about anybody. Whatever the situation might be somebody’s going to have to step up and we’re going to have to figure out a way to get some wins.”
