The Los Angeles Lakers are hiring Antawn Jamison to serve in a scouting capacity, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
“Jamison, 41, will work in the scouting department under Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson, general manager Rob Pelinka and assistant general manager Jesse Buss,” Yahoo reported, citing sources.
Jamison was a 6-foot-9 forward whose career started in 1998 when he was the No. 4 overall draft pick. He was traded on draft night for University of North Carolina teammate Vince Carter (now with the Sacramento Kings).
Jamison finished with career averages of 18.5 points and 7.5 rebounds.
He has been an analyst for broadcasts of Lakers games since 2014. Along with the Lakers, Jamison spent time with the Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers.
