Atlanta Hawks point guard Dennis Schroder was arrested on a misdemeanor battery charge in the early morning hours Thursday, according to ESPN.
“We are aware of an incident involving Dennis Schroder earlier this morning,” the team said in a statement. “We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”
Schroder, 24, is the starting point guard and considered one of the bright spots on the Hawks’ remade roster. He averaged 17.9 points and 6.3 assists in 79 games last season. He increased those averages to 24.7 and 7.2, respectively, in the playoffs.
ESPN reported that Schroder was released on bail.
