The Atlanta Hawks have apparently found their next general manager, and he comes from a winning program.
According to The Vertical, the new man in charge will be none other than Travis Schlenk, a front-office executive with the Golden State Warriors.
Per The Vertical:
Barring any unforeseen snags, a deal could be completed as soon as Wednesday, league sources told The Vertical.
Schlenk has been part of a front office that’s helped shape one of the most talented rosters in NBA history.
Schlenk has spent 12 years in the Warriors’ front office, including the past five as assistant GM under Bob Myers.
The Hawks have totally reshuffled their basketball structure, moving GM Wes Wilcox into a role assisting ownership. Also, head coach Mike Budenholzer, who had front-office duties, will now strictly serve as coach.
According to The Vertical, former NBA GM and current adviser Rick Sund is overseeing the team’s draft preparations for now.
