Not surprisingly, the Brooklyn Nets have decided to guarantee the contract of shooting guard Spencer Dinwiddie for the season, according to a report from Michael Scotto of Basketball Insiders.
Dinwiddie has had an outstanding year while playing on a non-guaranteed deal. Sunday is the deadline for teams to determine whether to pick up non-guaranteed contracts for the season, or waive the player.
For the Nets, there was never any doubt about Dinwiddie, who’s averaging career-highs of 12.8 points and 6.5 assists through the first 37 games. He is also shooting 36.3 percent on 3-pointers.
As Scotto noted, Dinwiddie, 24, also has a non-guaranteed minimum deal next season, making the 6-foot-6 guard perhaps the NBA’s best bargain.
