Report: Hornets adding Nored as assistant coach

New Hornets assistant Ronald Nored spent time as a head coach in the G League.

The Charlotte Hornets are adding Ronald Nored as an assistant to new coach James Borrego’s staff, according to ESPN.

Nored, 28, most recently served as coach of the Long Island Nets, Brooklyn’s affiliate in the G League.

Nored played collegiately as a point guard for then-coach Brad Stevens and Butler University from 2008-12. He was named Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 and 2012. He has also worked as an assistant coach with the Maine Red Claws of the G League and in player development with the Boston Celtics.

Borrego is a former San Antonio Spurs assistant who was hired to replace former Hornets coach Steve Clifford.
