Charlotte Hornets forward Nicolas Batum tore a ligament in his left elbow and is likely to miss 8-12 weeks, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.
Batum suffered the injury in the Hornets’ preseason game vs. the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday. Scott Percy of Queen City Hoops reported that Batum’s injury is more serious and that he could miss the season.
Either way, Batum’s absence will surely be felt, even if it’s the shorter period reported by Yahoo.
Batum, 28, started 77 games for the Hornets last season and is an underrated and versatile all-around wing. He averaged 15.1 points, 6.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists.
